Helpful Tips – Symbolism

    • Understanding the flow of energy (chi)
    • Feng Shui is understanding the flow of chi, the hidden life breath that permeates the environment. When energy is in disarray, misfortunes rule the day.
    • Yin and Yang in the cosmic balance
    • All the energies of your personal space are in a constant state of flux. Yin and yang energies dance together continually – striving for the balance that brings harmony. Yin is cool and dark and lifeless – still. Yang is hot and bright and full of life. Keep yin and yang in harmony within your home and you will enjoy good luck.
    • Regular shapes are better
    • Regular shapes are preferred to irregular shapes. Squares and rectangles have better Feng Shui than triangles or shapes with missing corners.

  • Display money frogs for luck
  • Place a money frog in the vicinity of your front door, facing inwards as if it has just come into the house or business.
  • Water features work best in the north
  • Mini water fountains or small ponds in your garden bring exceptional money luck when located in the north or southeast corners. Check this is ok with your Flying Stars chart first though.
  • Curved pathways bring better luck
  • Any pathways that lead to your front door are best to meander, thereby slowing down the energy that brings good fortune.
  • Beware of straight roads
  • Front doors should not face oncoming roads e.g. t-junctions, end of streets. Slow down the energy by placing clumps of trees, a fence, wall, hedge or Pa Kua symbol (purchased via Feng Shui stores).
  • Open windows
  • Open windows in each room at least once a week in order to move stale air and bring in fresh yang air and energy, to attract good fortune.
  • Fresh flowers
  • Fresh flowers are great yang energy. Never leave dying withering flowers always replace immediately.
  • Artificial verses dried flowers
  • Dried flowers are not considered auspicious as they can undermine your success. Artificial silk or plastic is preferable.
  • Water should be on the left
  • Water features in front of homes should always be on the left of the main door from inside the house looking out. This will ensure the stability of the couple living there. Water on the right hand side causes males to have a roving eye.
  • Overhead beams
  • Exposed overhead beams cause bad energy to press down on anyone sitting or sleeping below. Hang a six -rod wind chime on the beam to counter this Feng Shui defect in the home or office. Do ensure that the rods are hollow rather than solid so that the energy can travel through them and transform into good luck, alternately you can use a pair of flutes.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Maintenance issues, such as leaking taps, faulty light switches, blown light globes, cracked window panes, doors that don’t open easily, and so on, are all important to the flow of energy within the building. Any repairs should be carried out as soon as possible.
  • In order for energy to flow freely throughout a room it is necessary that furniture or other items do not congest any area, particularly the floor area. All items should be stored appropriately or disposed of to create the space for new opportunities and experiences to come into your life.
  • The placement of furniture and other items in a home should allow free passage into and through every room. The placement of chairs and sofas should allow for a person to have their back to a wall where possible, rather than an open space or a window.
  • When decorating do not select light fittings that require 5 globes or have 5 panels.
  • Mirrors in bedrooms can be over stimulating for some people. Should any members of the family have difficulty sleeping it is suggested that mirrors be removed or at least covered at night.
  • Electrical equipment can also have disturbing affect on sleep and health. It is strongly advised that digital clocks, radios, cordless phones etc be kept at least 2 meters from the bed head. Television sets and computers are not recommended in bedroom areas, however the electoral field is diminished if they are over 2 metres away from the bed head.
